Living Real – building an active life – should be fun. Many of us have become so dependent on canned entertainment and non-active pastimes, that we’ve forgotten just how great it is to take a walk through our neighborhood, play a sport we love or visit the park with our kids.
We’ve learned to rely on being fed entertainment “junk food.” Endless shows to binge on, always a new video game to try, our phones constantly chirping for our attention. Living Real means using these forms of entertainment like we should use sweets when we Eat Real – sparingly.
To get started Living Real, it’s simple. Just put one foot in front of the other. A walk to your local park (Grand Rapids has 74, one walkable from nearly anywhere in the city) can remind you just what you’ve been missing.
From there, it’s up to you. Find what you love, and do it! It may take a few tries to find activities that make you want to get up and go, but when you do, there will be no stopping you!
